Every other day at four o clock Peter plays Zadulph’s Escape on the Playstation. Support workers must return to the house house by 3.30 if it’s a Playstation day. As always they should also ensure that Peter’s excitement does not cause greater anxiety, by reminding him that his dinner is at half 5.
To facilitate independent choice, Peter should be encouraged to turn on the television and the console himself.
One member of staff should supervise Peter while he plays Zadulph’s Escape. Another will be downstairs making his dinner, which he expects to eat at 5.15pm. Please do not sit on his couch, as Peter can become over-stimulated while playing the game.
Peter has been playing Zadulph’s Escape for a long time but has never completed the , because of the final boss. The final boss is called The Rat King. Peter is very afraid of rats (please see Peter’s support plan for mentioning the word ‘Rat King’, and Health Action Plan for administering medication). The whole platform of the boss game Peter’s autism makes him highly sensitive to brightness. Sudden brightness and rats are both triggers for Peter, and can cause him to react violently.
Peter must NEVER reach The Rat King. If he nears this stage in Zadulph’s Escape, he should be encouraged to restart the game from the beginning: if Peter does not allow this, or if he does not understand the instruction, the Playstation can be turned off at the wall. Peter must NEVER reach The Rat King, because his normally challenging behaviours will quickly escalate.
If this happens, all of your new colleagues will think you are a cunt. They’ll be understanding, but you know that inside they’ll be thinking: this new cunt…is a cunt.
